About NHF  

New Hope Federation logo New Hope Federation is section 21 (2007/020964/08) and a Non Profit (060-615) NPO working together with civil society to achieve the MDG of which we concentrate on health (HIV, STD’s and TB) in South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho. We formed partnership with the Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland and civil society in Swaziland and is busy in discussion with the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho.

New Hope Federation thus participates in education on prevention in HIV/AIDS and TB in Southern Africa among Faith based organizations, community organizations and the youth. We are in partnership with CABSA (Christian Aids Bureau of South Africa), NAPWA, Gauteng Department of Health, Aids Consortium and City of Johannesburg Health. We are in talks with SALGA to assist in the implementation of the AMICAALL program among the municipalities.

We are thus involved in both advocacy and implementation roles:

  1. Reducing Stigma and Discrimination
  2. Ensuring Access to Treatment, Prevention and Care
  3. Increasing Resources for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, and Other Related Issues
  4. Promoting Greater Involvement by Affected Communities


Our member organisation Rophe Community Services (012-054 NPO) is currently accredited to do VCT in non-medical sites and is subcontracting to service providers. They are currently being funded by the Gauteng Department of Health for 1. Mentoring and training of counselors in clinics and 2. Debriefing program for health workers.

We are also currently accredited with HWSETA (hw591pa0902026) with one year certificates in Lay Counselling (to upgrade them to Professional Counselors), Ancillary Nursing and Home Base Care. These projects are led by Carol Mdluli (Professional Nurse)


Peter Wonderlik is the founder and Executive Director of the New Hope Federation. Reverend Wonderlik works extensively with faith-based organizations and other NGO's to increase HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, home based care, and life skills among youth, orphans, and vulnerale childern.The vision of the NHF is to unite and work with stakeholders in South Africa to bring about an AIDS free society. Peter has extensive experience building partnerships to address HIV/AIDS in numerous southern African countries. He has been a Candlelight Coordinator for one year.

    • Global Health Council: Executive Director, Rev. Peter Wonderlik has been appointed National Coordinator – International Candlelight Memorial for period 2008-2010 and South Africa for the period 2010 to 2013.

    • Affiliated to AIDS Consortium of South Africa.
    • Volunteering and participating in campaigns and programs of the Gauteng Department of Health and City of Johannesburg Health (not funded).
    • Working together with churches and other faiths (Muslim, Hindu and Buddhists) on HIV/AIDS and moral regenerations.
    • Member of CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation
